Ganley v. County of San Mateo

In Ganley v. County of San Mateo (2007), a county correctional officer was placed on involuntary medical leave due to physical limitations that restricted her to light duty work. (Id., p. 1.) The district court concluded the employee had received due process because, although she had "no formal 'fitness for duty' examination," she was aware at the time she was examined by her personal doctor and by the county's physician that the examinations were for the purpose of determining the extent of her disability, and she had an opportunity to protest the county's decision to place her on leave. (Id., pp. 29-30.) H
