In Green v. City of Los Angeles (1974) 40 Cal.App.3d 819, the defendant Link-Belt sold a defective secondhand rebuilt crane. However, Link-Belt's liability was based on the fact that it made such extensive modifications to the crane before selling it that Link-Belt was "tantamount to a manufacturer." (Id., at p. 838.)
