In Gunnell v. Metrocolor Laboratories, Inc. (2001) 92 Cal.App.4th 710, an action by employees against their employer for injuries sustained from exposure to a hazardous chemical substance the employer gave them to clean a film processing lab, the civil suit was held barred by workers compensation, notwithstanding "egregious misconduct by the employer, who failed to take steps to assure the safety of workers hired to use a dangerous chemical substance and concealed the danger from those employees." (Id. at p. 714.)
