In re Jesse F

In In re Jesse F. (1982) 137 Cal.App.3d 164, two assailants robbed a man of his watch and money, then took possession of his car. When the man attempted to flee, one of the assailants cut him across the eye and hit him in the back of the head. (Id., at p. 167.) The court held that "The fruits of the robbery were theirs and their escape was apparently assured. Their attempt to murder the victim as he fled constituted a separate act not necessary to effectuate the robbery." (Id., at p. 171.)
