In In re Karen C. (2002) 101 Cal.App.4th 932, Karen's birth mother gave Karen to Leticia C. immediately after birth. (Id. at p. 934.) The birth mother told the hospital staff her name was Leticia C., so that Leticia would be named as Karen's mother on the birth certificate as Karen's birth mother. (ibid.) The appellate court remanded the matter to the juvenile court to consider whether Leticia qualified as a presumed parent under Family code section 7611, (Id. pp. 938-939.)
