In re Patricia E

In In re Patricia E. (1985) 174 Cal. App. 3d 1, the appellate court considered whether a father had standing to assert the juvenile court erred by appointing county counsel to represent both the welfare department and his daughter in a juvenile dependency proceeding. The appellate court concluded the father had standing "because independent representation of the daughter's interests impacts upon the father's interest in the parent-child relationship. Where the interests of two parties interweave, either party has standing to litigate issues that have an impact upon the related interests." ( Patricia E., supra, 174 Cal. App. 3d at p. 6, )
