People v. Bain

In People v. Bain (1971) 5 Cal.3d 839, the prosecutor asserted the defendant and his counsel had fabricated a defense and that counsel had coached the defendant. The prosecutor also attacked the integrity of the defendant's counsel and the office of the public defender, expressed his personal belief in the defendant's guilt, and referred repeatedly to racial matters, stating at one point that he, as a Black man, would not be prosecuting a Black defendant unless he personally believed the man to be guilty.
