People v. Breckenridge

In People v. Breckenridge (1975) 52 Cal. App. 3d 913, a police officer testified about the defendant's identity by referring to his fingerprints. The officer also testified that these fingerprints had originated with the Berkeley Police Department. The court ruled that this testimony was relevant to the issue of identity. The court, however, warned against "unnecessary elaboration" on this explanation, which might draw undue attention to the defendant's prior criminal history. (Id. at p. 938.)
