In People v. Fountain (2000) 82 Cal.App.4th 61, the court examined whether the defendant's prior juvenile adjudication for battery with serious bodily injury constituted a strike. The trial court had found that the battery with serious bodily injury adjudication came within subdivision (b)(14), "Assault by any means of force likely to produce great bodily injury." In so finding, the trial court had noted that "serious bodily injury" and "great bodily injury" were interchangeable terms. ( Id. at p. 68.)
