People v. Urfer

In People v. Urfer (1979) 94 Cal. App. 3d 887, the defendant unsuccessfully sought to withdraw his guilty plea to a drug charge based on his counsel's representation that defendant entered the plea "unwillingly or with 'reluctance,' " yielding to his counsel's "persuasions and prejudices." The court in Urfer concluded "such state of mind is not synonymous with an involuntary act," nor a " 'factor overreaching defendant's free and clear judgment' ibid," in holding that the trial judge acted within his discretion in denying the motion to withdraw. ( Id. at p. 892.)
