People v. Yanez

In People v. Yanez (1995) 38 Cal.App.4th 1622, the victim's car was stolen and damaged by the defendant. The trial court ordered the defendant to pay restitution to cover repairs in an amount that exceeded the "high Blue Book price" of the car. ( Id. at p. 1625.) The Court of Appeal held the trial court erred in awarding restitution for costs of repair that exceeded the value of the vehicle prior to the theft. ( Id. at p. 1625-1626.)
