Rupp v. Summerfield

In Rupp v. Summerfield (1958) 161 Cal. App. 2d 657, the defendant told the plaintiff he intended to report to the police that the watch defendant had given plaintiff was stolen, in order to satisfy his wife. After doing so, he told a third party that he had given the watch to plaintiff, then had plaintiff display it to the third party. ( Id. at pp. 660-661.) In short, the defendant in Rupp was damned by his own words.
