In Selleck v. Globe International, Inc. (1985) 166 Cal.App.3d 1123, the appellate court reversed the dismissal of a libel claim which was based on an article titled "'Tom Selleck's love secrets--By His Father,'" that bore the caption "'His Father Reveals All,'" and contained quotations made by Selleck's father. The court determined that the title, caption and article did not merely express an opinion, but rather, asserted as a fact that Selleck's father made the statements concerning his son.
