Transamerica Title Ins. Co. v. Green

In Transamerica Title Ins. Co. v. Green (1970) 11 Cal.App.3d 693, the notary was found to be negligent as a matter of law when he certified to the identity of two signatories after they had been introduced to him by his law partner. The case, incidentally, also held ( id., pp. 702-703) that the trial court erred in admitting evidence that notaries in the county in question customarily did not comply with section 1185.
