In Gomez v. State, 751 So.2d 630 (Fla. 3d DCA 1999), the district court reversed the defendant's conviction, based on fundamental error, due to the numerous improper comments by the prosecutor during closing argument. The prosecutor more than once referred to the defendant as a liar. She also characterized him as a "zero" who had no credibility, called his version of events a "cockamamie story," and made Golden Rule arguments in which she suggested that the jurors would not have acted in the same criminal way as the defendant if they had been in his shoes. See id. at 632.
