In International Business Machines Corp. v. Martin Property & Casualty Insurance Agency, Inc., 281 Ill. App. 3d 854, 858, 666 N.E.2d 866, 868, 217 Ill. Dec. 197 (1996), the Court held that in order to determine whether the exercise of jurisdiction over a particular defendant was proper the court was required to engage in a two-step analysis--determining first whether jurisdiction was proper under the specific language of the long-arm statute and then proceeding to determine whether the exercise of jurisdiction comported with principles of due process.
