People v. Perry

In People v. Perry, 224 Ill. 2d 312, 350, 864 N.E.2d 196, 309 Ill. Dec. 330 (2007) the court rejected an improper closing argument claim where the prosecutor described the defendant therein as a "conman," a "fraud" and a "fake." Perry, 224 Ill. 2d at 350. In so doing, the court noted that: "Describing a defendant who is charged with theft by deception as a con man, fraud, or fake is similar to describing a defendant who is charged with murder as a killer or a murderer." Perry, 244 Ill. 2d at 350.
