In People v. Kaludis, 146 Ill. App. 3d 888, 497 N.E.2d 360, 100 Ill. Dec. 382 (1986), the forensic chemist "performed a tablet-ballistics test which, in essence, is a visual examination of all the tablets, and this visual examination revealed that all tablets exhibited the same physical characteristics." Kaludis, 146 Ill. App. 3d at 891-92. The chemist found that the tablets were the same size, diameter and roundness with the identical lettering characteristics, bevelling and scoring. Kaludis, 146 Ill. App. 3d at 892. The chemist performed two different sets of tests on two groups of three tablets and the tested sample tablets showed a presence of a controlled substance, which the chemist opined was present in all 100 tablets.
