Collins v. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan

In Collins v. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, 228 Mich. App. 560, 568; 579 N.W.2d 435 (1998), the Court held that the defendant was entitled to terminate the plaintiff's employment because the plaintiff's psychological disorder caused her to express homicidal ideation regarding her immediate supervisor to a psychiatrist assigned to evaluate her disability claim. Collins, 228 Mich. App. at 563-564, 568-569. The Court held that "a disabled employee may be discharged for misconduct, even where the misconduct is a manifestation of the employee's disability." Id. at 569.
