Intek Auto Leasing, Inc. v. Zetes Microtech Corp

In Intek Auto Leasing, Inc. v. Zetes Microtech Corp., 268 N.J. Super. 426, 428-29, 633 A.2d 1029 (App.Div.1993), the defendants were initially served by mail and they signed receipts. But the service by mail was ineffective to confer in personam jurisdiction. The plaintiffs alleged that the defendants had acknowledged service with the same effect as if they had been personally served. The defendants, however, contested the authenticity of their signatures. The Court ordered the trial court to vacate the default judgment if plaintiffs failed to prove the validity of the acknowledgments. Intek, 268 N.J. Super. at 433-34, 633 A.2d 1029.
