Ramsdell v. Pennsylvania R.R. Co

In Ramsdell v. Pennsylvania R.R. Co., 79 N.J.L. 379, 381, 75 A. 444 (Sup.Ct.1910), a notice was distributed to all train conductors stating that plaintiff was discharged for failure to issue meal checks according to instructions. Despite being libelous per se, the court held that the communication was privileged as to the employees of the dining car department because the employees should properly be informed of the severance of relations between the company and one of its conductors.
