United Advertising Corp. v. Borough of Metuchen

In United Advertising Corp. v. Borough of Metuchen, 42 N.J. 1, 3, 198 A.2d 447 (1964), the Court upheld a ban throughout the municipality on "outdoor advertising signs other than those related to a business conducted on the premises." The plaintiff sought to erect billboards in business and manufacturing districts. Ibid. The Court held that the "aesthetic impact of billboards is an economic fact which may bear heavily upon the enjoyment and value of property. It is a relevant zoning consideration."
