Matter of Mendez v. Reynolds

In Matter of Mendez v. Reynolds (248 A.D.2d 62 [1st Dept. 1998]), the Court considered a challenge by Hostos College students to a new graduation requirement which had been imposed by the CUNY Board of Trustees. The Court indicated that the petitioners did not challenge the ultimate authority of the board over curriculum and graduation requirements. The Court further noted that the board possessed the sole and exclusive statutory authority to impose graduation and course requirements for all CUNY colleges, pursuant to Education Law 6204 (1) and 6206 (7) (a).
