Sanders v. New York City Transit Authority

In Sanders v. New York City Transit Authority, (83 AD3d 811 [2d Dept 2011]) the Second Department affirmed jury awards to a 41-year-old plaintiff of $2,250,000 in past pain and suffering, and $6.3 million over 30 years, or $210,000 a year, in future pain and suffering. After being hit by a subway train, the plaintiff suffered injuries which required the amputation of his right leg below the knee, multiple fractures to his head and face, blindness of his right eye, a severed ear and related hearing loss, a toe deformity, and several related psychological problems.
