In Williamson v. Williamson, 140 N.C. App. 362, 536 S.E.2d 337 (2000), the Court first pointed out that "N.C. Gen. Stat. 50-16.3A(c) (1995) requires the trial court, in making an alimony award, to set forth 'the reasons for its amount, duration, and manner of payment.'" Id. at 365, 536 S.E.2d at 339. The Court remanded to the trial court for further findings because its alimony order "failed to provide any reasoning for the $ 1,500.00 monthly amount, why the award was permanent, or why it would be paid directly to the Union County Clerk of Court." Id.
