In Granger v. Commonwealth, 20 Va. App. 576, 459 S.E.2d 106 (1995), the Court reversed a conviction for malicious wounding and robbery where "the Commonwealth's case only proved that the accused once handled the bottle" that was used to strike the victim. Id. at 578, 459 S.E.2d at 106. The Court held that the "fingerprint evidence did not show when the accused handled the bottle or that he handled it at the scene of the crime." Id.
