In State v. Fierro, 124 Ariz. 182, 184, 603 P.2d 74, 76 (1979) the victim was put on life support after being shot by the defendant several times in the chest and head. Although doctors ultimately terminated life support, the court found the gunshot wounds were the proximate cause of the victim's death. Id. at 185, 603 P.2d at 77. The court pointed out "'the fact that other causes contribute to the death does not relieve the actor of responsibility, provided such other causes are not the proximate cause of the death.'" Id.
