In re I. M

In In re I. M. (2005) 125 Cal.App.4th 1195, the trial court ordered a juvenile defendant-convicted of being an accessory after the fact in connection with a murder-to pay restitution to the victim's family for burial expenses. (Id. at p. 1199.) The Court, applying People v. Carbajal (1995) 10 Cal.4th 1114, upheld the order, concluding that restitution for burial expenses is reasonably related to the crime because the defendant promoted and assisted gang conduct. Further, the order will compel the defendant to "share responsibility for the gang-related activities in which he in some way participated." (In re I. M., at p. 1210.)
