In People v. Cook (Colo. 1983), 665 P.2d 640, the defendant stated "I guess I am going to need an attorney." Following that statement, the officer agreed with the defendant, but then asked for his story and the accused made a statement. The court suppressed the statement and stated that a sophisticated request is not necessary.
