In Celentano v. Oaks Condominium Assn., Superior court, Complex Litigation Docket at Waterbury, Docket No. 0159297 (January 11, 2001), the trial court noted that the correct method for calculating a cost of living increase is to multiply the previous year's payment "by a fraction that has the current year's consumer price index as the numerator and the consumer price index for the previous year as the denominator."
