State v. Goffe

In State v. Goffe, 41 Conn. App. 454, 676 A.2d 1377 (ConnAppCt 1996), the Connecticut Appellate Court considered whether or not a jury trial should be awarded in an overweight truck case very similar to the case at hand. The fine in Goffe totaled $ 11,784 for overweight violations. In following reasoning almost identical to State v. Feiok, 364 N.W.2d 536 (SD 1985), the court held that, when there is no chance of imprisonment, there is no right to a jury trial even in light of a rather large fine. See id.
