Commencing Employment Without Further Approval from the Employer
In Biggerstaff v. Industrial Comm'n, 171 Ill. App. 3d 845, 849-50, 121 Ill. Dec. 693, 525 N.E.2d 1000 (1988) the evidence showed that employer's agent, Settle, placed a telephone call from his home in Illinois to decedent's home, which was also in Illinois.
Immediately after calling the decedent, Settle and two other men drove to a store in Illinois where they met the decedent, who accompanied them to employer's oil rig and commenced employment without further approval from the employer
Under these circumstances, the Court concluded that the evidence supported the Commission's finding that a contract for hire was made in Illinois. Biggerstaff, 171 Ill. App. 3d at 850.
