Court Jurisdiction Over Someone Who Escaped While Released on Bond

Does court retain jurisdiction to impose a sentence on someone who escaped while released on bond ? In People ex rel. Kelly v. Ragen, 392 Ill. 423, 64 N.E.2d 872 (1946) the defendant was found guilty of armed robbery and incarcerated. The defendant was subsequently released on bond pending a Supreme Court ruling on his habeas corpus petition. The defendant understood that, as a condition of his release, he was required to surrender if the Court denied his petition. The defendant failed to return until 12 years after the Court denied the petition, but the trial court retained jurisdiction to impose a sentence. Kelly, 392 Ill. at 427.
