V.C. v. M.J.B

In V.C. v. M.J.B., 163 N.J. 200, 748 A.2d 539, 555 (N.J. 2000) the mother and her partner jointly decided to have children, chose a sperm donor, and participated in prenatal care together. 748 A.2d at 542-43. The children called the partner "Meema," and the biological mother referred to her partner as the mother of her children. Id. at 543. The parties and the children lived together as a family, and the partner assumed many day-to-day obligations of parenthood and provided financial support. Id. The New Jersey Supreme Court held that the record supported the conclusion that the mother had "fostered and cultivated, in every way, the development of a parent-child bond between her partner and her children." Id. at 555.
