Fawcett Publications, Inc. v. Morris

In Fawcett Publications, Inc. v. Morris, 1962 OK 183, 377 P.2d 42 (Okla. 1962), the Oklahoma Supreme Court held that a single member of a football team consisting of "sixty or seventy members" could maintain a defamation claim even though he was not specifically mentioned. Id. at 47, 52. The court noted that the plaintiff was "well known and identified in connection with the group." Id. at 51. Moreover, the plaintiff had "sufficiently established his identity as one of those libeled by the publication." Id. at 52.
