In Beheler v. State, 3 S.W.3d 182, 188 (Tex.App.--Fort Worth 1999, pet. ref'd), the sexual assault nurse examiner did not specifically inquire whether the child understood the importance of being truthful in her statements. See Beheler, 3 S.W.3d at 189. However, the child told the nurse that she knew why she was there. Id. The Fort Worth Court of Appeals found that this evidence supported a finding that the child understood the need to tell the truth. Id.
