In Ex parte Kuban, 763 S.W.2d 426 (Tex. Crim. App. 1989), the defendant was credited for time spent in a California jail, where he was detained solely on the basis of a Texas fugitive warrant. 763 S.W.2d at 427. The Court explained that, while Texas had filed no detainer, the defendant's time served in California was "for nothing other than being a fugitive from justice in Texas." Id.
