Greater Houston Transp. Co. v. Phillips

In Greater Houston Transp. Co. v. Phillips, 801 S.W.2d 523, 525 (Tex.1990), a taxicab driver shot a motorist after a minor traffic accident. See id. at 524. The Texas Supreme Court held that the taxi cab company had no duty to admonish its drivers not to carry guns. See id. at 527. The "risk of harm (injury) to others" was not foreseeable because in the twenty years that the company had operated in Houston, there was only one incident involving the use of a firearm. See id.
