Mathias v. Accor Economy Lodging, Inc

In Mathias v. Accor Economy Lodging, Inc. (347 F3d 672 [7th Cir 2003]), the court found that plaintiffs had proved the hotel had deceived guests into believing they were renting a clean and safe room, when in fact virtually all the rooms were teeming with bedbugs. The court found that the infestation was very well known to the hotel staff, but they were under strict instructions to rent out the rooms anyway, even though their exterminator notified them of the heavy infestation and quoted a reasonable price ($ 500) to fumigate the entire premises.
