Allstate Ins. Co. v. Hague

In Allstate Ins. Co. v. Hague, 449 U.S. 302 , 312-13 (1981), the Court upheld the application of Minnesota insurance law to an insurance policy delivered in Wisconsin to a Wisconsin resident who subsequently died in an automobile accident that took place in Wisconsin and involved another Wisconsin resident. Id. at 320. Following the accident, the decedents wife moved to Minnesota and brought suit against the insurer in Minnesota court seeking a declaration that Minnesota law applied to her late husbands automobile insurance policy. Id. at 305-06. The Minnesota Supreme Court upheld the application of Minnesota insurance law, and the United States Supreme Court affirmed. Id.
