In the Virgin Islands, immunity is granted under 14 V.I.C. 20, which allows any court in the Virgin Islands to grant immunity to a witness who refuses to testify based on his privilege against self-incrimination. Use or derivative use immunity "prohibits the use of compelled testimony or any evidence derived from that testimony against the witness in a criminal prosecution." United States v. Quatermain, 613 F.2d 38, 40 (3d Cir. 1980) (citing Kastigar v. United States, 406 U.S. 441, 453, 92 S. Ct. 1653, 32 L. Ed. 2d 212 (1972)); see also 14 V.I.C. 20(a)(3).
