State v. Ray

In State v. Ray, 130 Wn.2d 673, 926 P.2d 904, 905 (Wash. 1996), a man voluntarily confessed that he molested his three-year-old daughter by forcing her to fondle him. Absent his confession, there was no independent evidence of the crime because the child was deemed incompetent to testify. Id. Since the State could not satisfy the corpus delicti rule, charges against the man were dismissed. Id.
