X was convicted by a Pulaski County jury of the felony offense of leaving the scene of an accident with injury and the misdemeanor offense of driving on a revoked or suspended license. He was sentenced to six years in the Arkansas Department of Correction for the felony offense and six months and a $ 500.00 fine on the misdemeanor offense, with the sentences to run concurrently. X was also charged with driving while intoxicated but was found not guilty of that offense. The charge of leaving the scene of an accident with injury, Arkansas Code Annotated section 27-53-103 (Repl. 1994) provides: The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting in injury to, or death of, any person or damage to any vehicle which is driven or attended by any person shall give his name, address, and the registration number of the vehicle he is driving. Upon request and if available, the driver shall exhibit his operator's or chauffeur's license to the person struck, or the driver or occupant of, or person attending, any vehicle collided with and shall render to any person injured in the accident reasonable assistance, including the transporting, or the making of arrangements for the transporting, of the person to a physician, surgeon, or hospital for medical or surgical treatment if it is apparent that treatment is necessary or if transporting is requested by the injured person.
